POSITION: Mentor Superior – Masters of Social Work Intern
SITE: Harbor Highlands Community Center/Superior Housing Authority
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AS A PROGRAM ADVOCATE FOR MENTOR SUPERIOR? I work to provide support, information and resources to mentors, youth and their families through regular contact. I also share information to all participants about community events and Mentor Superior events. I also check in annually, enroll youth in the program, and conduct interviews with mentors and the youth and families.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR WORK WITH MENTOR SUPERIOR? I enjoy being able to create a positive connection and relationship between positive adults and youth in the community. The impact that these relationships have on both a mentor and mentee makes it worth it, knowing they can carry the memories and knowledge throughout life.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES AND INTERESTS? I really enjoy being outdoors but also love the comfort of home. When the weather isn’t very nice I enjoy reading, watching TV/Movies/Netflix, and doing crafts. When the weather is nice I really enjoy just sitting outside and relaxing and exploring. I’ve started to get into taking pictures of scenery due to my recent interest in traveling and exploring. I also love hunting and fishing as well as four-wheeling. I’m always open to learning new things and helping others.
