Position: Harbor Highlands Coordinator and Mentor Duluth Advocate
Site: Harbor Highlands Community Center
What is your role as the Harbor Highlands Coordinator and Program Advocate?
As the Harbor Highlands Coordinator, I am the main contact for building usage and rentals. I oversee the Little Y Program, facilitate family events and provide community outreach to the Harbor Highlands neighborhood. As an advocate, I support families in the Mentor Duluth and Mentor North Shore programs. I help with family enrollment, mentor initial interviews, orientation, screening and matching process.
What do you like about your work with Mentor Duluth?
I have been working with the north shore mentoring program for the past 7 months and just started my Harbor Highlands Coordinating position. I love working with youth and families. Mentor Duluth is a great place to work because you get to spend quality time with families in your community. It’s so fun to watch mentor matches build friendships and do new activities together.
What are some of your hobbies and interests?
I love the outdoors. The more time I can spend outside the better! I enjoy hiking, kayaking, camping, and lying on the beach. During the winter I like to hibernate and watch Netflix. I’ll admit that I can be a bit of a reality TV addict as well. I love to travel and have made it a goal to go somewhere new every couple of years. Overall, I like to think I am a positive person who loves Duluth. If I can give back to my community, I am happy.
